WARNING:
Swimming in any natural body of water is always at the swimmer's discretion. Manitowoc County's Lake Michigan beaches are tested throughout the swimming season. Test results are received and posted in approximately 24 hours from the time of collection. The E. Coli level on a beach can fluctuate hour-to-hour, or even more frequently, based on conditions. By the time beach test results are received and posted, it is highly unlikely that the same level of E. Coli exists.
What you can do to protect yourself and your family:
- Do not drink the water!
- Keep young children from putting wet toys and hands in their mouths.
- Shower after swimming.
- Wash your hands before eating; use a hand sanitizer if there are no restrooms.

SAMPLING TIMELINES: Water Samples are scheduled to be taken either once or twice a week. The beaches
receiving two tests each week will be done on Monday and Wednesday. Samples are taken more often if an UNSAFE condition is received.
